The Mont Rose
The Monte Rosa "Haute-Route" by skis is a must in ski mountaineering. Always above the 4000m, we cross all the Monte Rosa range, culminating on the last day at the Punta Gnifetti (4554m) with, the icing on the cake, the stunning descent of the Grenzgletscher after the Gorner Gletscher until Zermatt.
Program
Day 1 : meeting in Zermatt at 9am and climb up by the lifts to the Klein Matterhorn (3800m). Ascent (1h30) of Breithorn (4164m) and descent to the Refuge du Val d'Ayas (3400m).
Day 2 : climb up (2 to 3h) to Roccia Nera (4075m), then beautiful descent through the Schwarztor until 2500. Skin up (1h30) to the refuge Monte Rosa (2795m).
Day 3 : climb up (7 to 8h) to the Punta Gnifetti (4554m) and descent back through Grentzgletscher to the hut.
Day 4 : climb up (5h) to the Torre di Castel Franco (3623m) and superb descent to Zermatt (1600m)
Dates : early april to beginning june.
Level : 3 - good physical condition required, experienced ski-mountainers.
Price : 1150 € / person (one guide for 3 participants).
